This is a MOM & POP establishment that rocks the foodie inside me. They touch all the bases starting with Customer service. Very nice service quick and friendly, they check and check on you. Fresh & Tasty, everything is fresh and hot from the grill to you and perfectly spiced and presented. Cleanliness, small and a bit divy but they operate like a 5 STAR with pride. They serve Family Packs Meals so they are very pro family. My rule on Mexican food is if you want authentic you eat at mamas, here it's a brother from another mother and she rocks the grill. Very nice!!!!

Small and a little plain... Just a bit run down. Food was pretty bland. The salsa/hot sauce was pretty good and tasted fresh, as did the guacamole, which unfortunately was also under seasoned (no lime juice or salt in it). Service was disappointing- the trend in Del Rio seems to be bringing out only one dish at a time so one person has to sit and watch their food lose heat before their companion gets their plate.

Before the meal, I was offered fresh tortilla chips with a chipotle salsa and a blended guacamole that were interesting and out of the ordinary.

I tried the Milanesa plate. The beef was cooked well and was tender enough for this dish, and it came with homemade fries, both the fries and the Milanesa were underfried, leaving the former limp and the breading of the latter mushy.

I saw plenty of locals enjoying Carmelita's while I was eating, and this is the second location in Del Rio, so it's a popular place. I was on the fence between a three and four-star review, but ultimately decided that the inability to properly fry the food makes a significant difference in a dish such as the Milanesa. Next time I would recommend a different dish.

    Very disappointed with the food.
    The service was sub-par.
I ordered the tacos tapatillos, and they were very bland. The had absolutely no flavor.
